meet maria

  1. I have never been a big fan of group exercise.  It never seemed worth it.  I had to be at a certain place, at a certain time, to do exercise that just wasn't that beneficial.  And, at times, it was actually harmful.  Too many times classes do not take the time to demonstrate, the movements are too rapid, and there's no one watching your form.  A recipe for injury.
     

    So, now, for the last 2 years I've been regularly attending Maria's yoga class, and since the first of the year, the TRX classes.  Why the change of heart?  I find the classes very challenging, with competent oversight and great attention to form.  I can ask a question if I want more information.  Maria is constantly keeping an eye on everyone and adjusting accordingly.  I am stronger, as you would expect from regular exercise.  But I'm also much more aware of my body and can self-adjust to activities outside of class.  Since starting at Fit Core, I have had next to no injury from gardening, excessive lifting, biking, etc. Yes, the core is much stronger, but I also have a better understanding of how to use my body.

    Maria is very knowledgeable, motivated and exacting.  I very much appreciate the effort that she puts into classes.  Her many years of experience come through.  I sometimes encounter friends or acquaintances who aren't exercising due to various ailments, a bad knee, shoulder pain, etc.  Often, their attempts to become more fit have only exasperated the problem.  I have recommended they try Maria's class.  It's like working with a physical therapist.

  2. I started yoga with Maria six years ago. Her teachings have helped me strengthen my core so I no longer need to see a chiropractor for my back, opened my hips to relieve knee pain, and strengthened my golf game!  She has a tremendous understanding of anatomy and can tailor poses to your ability, enabling you to reap the fullest benefits for the work that you do. Maria is dedicated to her students and pushes us to continue to do better.  Maria helps me on my journey to improve myself.

  3. I come to Maria's classes because she is a wonderful teacher she keeps her classes intense and interesting - never boring. Her instructions are very clear and she teaches how to exercise safely to avoid injuries and pays attention to and helps heal existing injuries. I always feel comfortable coming to her classes even if I miss one or few of them she helps me get right back on track. Maria is a very caring teacher and always willing to help. 
     

    In the past 5 years I've tried several yoga studious and group classes but I always come back to Maria because there is no other teacher that can keep classes interesting and care so much about her students as she does.

  4. I keep getting stronger all the time.  Maria's class keeps you more flexible as you get older.  I have more energy, and I need that for my job, strength and energy.  Maria makes sure everyone in the class is always in right form so you never get hurt.  I feel like I'm getting younger rather than older.  Maria is very caring.  Maria tries to get you to have better eating habits, which makes you feel much better.  Maria is always trying new things.  It doesn't get boring.  Maria's classes are not easy, that's why they work!!

    A very easy question; I come to you because you are the best. I know that if you tell me to move my right toe a little that I am in perfect alignment.You have kept me feeling young. You are so knowledgeable that I have complete trust.

    I have been seeing you for 17 years and the best part is not just that my body feels so good but so does my mind. The truth is that you are not just a yoga teacher but more importantly a  dear and treasured friend.

  6. I am a 57 year old woman who came to Maria six years ago after another one of Maria’s long time clients told me about her.
    I had all kinds of problems: low back pain, neck pain, sciatica and general aches and pains all over my body.  There was no way I could do a squat or ever sit on the floor on my calves.
    I took a number of private sessions with Maria, and slowly learned about my body.  She not only guides me on what to do, but she educates me on why things are happening in my body.

    I am a dedicated student of Maria’s yoga classes and TRX classes.  She is really devoted to her profession and her students.  Her lessons are challenging, yet she modifies when she sees an issue.  Her knowledge is inspiring. 
    It is hard work, but what in life is not.  I feel better than I did 15 years ago.  I have a great respect and appreciation for Maria’s hard work.  Her wisdom, knowledge and devotion only make me say thank you forever.

  7. Maria,

     

    I come to you because you push me in a  way that gets me motivated.  I have come to you for so long for the same reason and I see a huge difference in my body after all this time with you.  You are different from other trainers in that you take in to account every part of my body.  From the top of my head to the bottom of my feet, if something isn't "cooperating" with the rest of the body you make adjustments, both in the workout and adjustments to me that really help me stay focused and wanting to do a better job with my body.  I feel how it should feel and want to keep that feeling.

     

    I connect to you because for me this isn't just a workout, sometimes it's therapy, body and mind and you allow that.  I also feel you are connected to me because of your spectacular dedication to learning every aspect of what you are doing.  And I can say almost anything to you and it doesn't phase you.  Thanks! :)

     

    I took break from working with you for a couple of years and knew at a certain point I needed to come back to you, it was just something I felt and it was the right decision.  I love what we are doing, mixing it up with the TRX and the bands and so on.  Once again, I have seen such a huge difference in my body and the way my clothes fit that even though I don't always put the effort in outside of class, I do want to make my body even better.  It will come and I know you will help me get there when I am ready.
