Benedict Schwarz, II has limited his practice to matrimonial and family law for over 40 years. He is a long-time member and past director of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) and is also a trained divorce mediator; Mr. Schwarz has taught numerous divorce mediation training and conflict resolution seminars and has also co-authored chapters on the subject in the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education publications.

Angela Matijevic graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business with a Major in Marketing. Angela also attended the University of Arizona where she participated in their foreign studies program. She lived in Guadalajara, Mexico for one semester while studying the language and culture. Angela was admitted to Roosevelt University’s Masters of Business of Administration program where she completed one third of the program and hopes to complete the remaining classes in the near future.
After graduating college, Angela worked in the field of marketing, finance and computer training for numerous years. She began working for Benedict Schwarz, II in 1995 as the firm’s Office/Financial Manager and is the current Client Services Manager. She has extensive knowledge in the area of financial management and is very detailed oriented. In addition to working, Angela also dedicates a great deal of her time to volunteering. She was a member of Summit Academy’s School Board before they merged with Elgin Academy. She is a former board member of the Central Youth Football & Cheerleading League and is very involved with her children’s schools and sports. She also dedicates time to many other non-for-profit organizations.
Amy Sabin holds a Level I & II Certification in Canon Trust Administration. She is a graduate of Westlake High School and attended Cuyahoga Community College in Ohio, where she worked towards a major in Office Administration. She has spent 25 years working in the Financial and Estate Planning fields with an emphasis on IRA and Pension Administration, with careers as an Assistant, Trust Associate, and Office Manager. Amy joined the firm in July, 2013 as an Administrative Assistant. Transplanted from Ohio in August, 2008, she remains a die-hard Cleveland sports fan and Ohio State Buckeye fanatic.
Carol Scarpiniti has 23 years of professional experience in the field of family law. She began her career in 1990 as a secretary for a general practice law firm and eventually became office manager. She has also worked in several other areas of law, specifically criminal law, personal injury and real estate. She joined the firm in March, 2013 as one of the firm’s paralegals. She is a die-hard Cub’s fan and an avid poker player.
