Rosie the Riveter's Connection to Pink Taxi

Pink Taxi - WE CAN DO IT!
Rosie the Riveter is a Cultural Icon that was introduced in the 1940’s during World War II. She represents the 6,000,000 women who entered the workforce for the first time during the war, while a majority of men were fighting overseas. Through various forms of Rosie the Riveter Propaganda the Patriotic need and “We Can Do It” Attitude was introduced to the American Woman. Because of the war - men were fighting our battle overseas - while Rosie became the new, IDEAL, female worker in the American Society. Rosie represented American women contributing by performing their Patriotic duty.
Pink Taxi wants to convey the same “We Can Do It” attitude to the women attending the VWISE Program in Chicago. However, instead of working during the war we are focusing on the Patriotic Duty of working after serving our country and giving back both to our country and cancer research.
This is where Pink Taxi comes in.
We are asking women veterans from the VWISE Program if they would be interested in becoming Pink Taxi entrepreneurs or seeking employment with Pink Taxi. We are giving them an opportunity to become a part of the American Dream by owning their own business or working for a company that strives to give back to such an important cause.
