UPDATE FROM YOUR KEMNITZ CENTER

I know it sometimes feels like it’s never going to happen, but the Kemnitz Center will be opening in a matter of weeks.  The renovation is moving along slower than anticipated, due to the sprinkler system, bathrooms that must be handicap accessible, construction delays, building permits, etc. but we have accomplished a great deal.

All of the rooms have been painted in wonderful colors picked out by our decorator.  The lockers in the hall have been cleaned and painted, which made the main hall much brighter and inviting.  New carpeting has been installed in the office and library.

We have met with the furniture and pool table movers.  The pool tables are scheduled to be set up on August 1st and the furniture will be moved down the hall and placed in it’s final resting place on August  11th, after all renovation/construction has been completed and all cleanup is done.

The permanent Kemnitz Center sign is ordered and should be in place on Greenwood this week.  It looks great.

We’re very happy to report that a donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, has pledged to donate 10 large screen desk top Hewlett Packard computers for our computer classes.  We’re setting up a permanent space for them in a computer lab.  Those wishing to learn computers will be learning on the latest equipment.

A new road is being built to the north of our building, along with a new parking lot design and resurfacing behind the building.  Also an underground flood control project is underway, in cooperation with the Village of Niles.

Hopefully our next communication will be to advise you of the exact opening date.  It’s been a much longer road than we anticipated but we can look forward to many good times to come in our new Kemnitz Center.

Thank you,

Kemnitz Center
